Broken

If this is a sign of what 2009's going to bring, then put me a jet plane to the nearest island of cookoos to live forever.

I should have known that something was going to go wrong yesterday morning since things were going so smoothly. It was Anna's first day back to school for the new year. It was a chance for me to try out my New Year's resolution of actually getting her there ON TIME. Woke up early. Got dressed early. Packed Anna's lunch early. Had the house straightened and dishes put away. Had the kids dressed and ready to go ON TIME. Hear that?? ...ON TIME!!!

I should have known that things were going too good to be "Dee's life." As I shooed the kids out the door, I stopped to look around and silently praised myself for a job well done. That's when it happened. That's when the blood curdling scream killed "the moment." Anna Lynn fell down the front porch stairs onto the concrete. So LONG, C-YA "being on time!!!"

To make a long story sort-of short...my little girl broke her ankle. Bless her heart. Though the pink cast was "da bomb" at first, it's not so cool anymore now that she realizes how immobilized she is. She'll survive, though. She's a tough cookie ;) She's also our most expensive child to date. Add this bill to the plastic surgery bill when she busted her nose completely open 2 years ago and you'll realize that we must set aside an "Anna Repair" account in addition to a college fund. Little cash vacuums. Gotta love um.

Aww, poor Anna! Hope she heals up quickly! She'll be in our prayers!

I was that kid for my parents. More broken bones than I care to name. So on behalf of "those kids" everywhere... Sorry! :)

It's okay Anna, this gives us a reason to have more "gulls" (girls) night out at Mickey D's & "Kwispy Kweme"! Just think Dee, Anna's more like Uncle Zac than you thought!!! :) :) Remember, I'm just a phone call away!
